About PhotocritiQ.com

This site is run by Brian and Cindy Mottershead. We are software developers living in a suburb of Boston and have been involved in web site development for the last 10 years. Between the two of us we have more than fifty years of professional software development experience. (That tells you that neither of us is very young, and that both of us have been doing software development for a while.)

Brian is an avid amateur photographer, or at least he used to be before he started spending all his time doing photography web sites. He was the one-man-show behind photo.net from June 2002 to August 2006. He is also the webmaster of zuga.net, the site of well-known professional photographers Gary Bernstein and Monte Zucker. We are running photocritiQ.com and some other sites as full-time jobs, earning our livings from it. We also have a software and web consulting business called Riverscape Software, and occasionally have time for consulting assignments.

photocritiQ.com runs on dedicated servers leased from ServerBeach, located in San Antonio, Texas. photocritiQ World Headquarters is in a dedicated room of our house in Carlisle, Massachusetts.

For the technically curious, the site runs on the "LAMP" platform: Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP. We use the MODx Content Management System for the basic structure of the site. SMF powers the forums. ImageMagick is used for handling the images, creating thumbnails, etc. On the client side, we are using the Scriptaculous Javascript classes to provide lots of AJAX-y user interface goodness. We are grateful to the developers of all the marvelous open-souce software we are using, without which photocritiQ.com would be impossible.

We sincerely hope that you enjoy the site. If you would like to send us feedback, good or bad, we'd be delighted to have it. We may be contacted at:
